APV

APV – What does it stand for?

APV stands for Workplace Assessment (in Danish: ArbejdsPladsVurdering) and is a tool for companies to work with the working environment.

Who needs to have an APV?

All companies with employees must have an APV.

Is the APV a legal requirement?

Yes – the APV is a requirement according to the Danish Working Environment Act.

What is an APV?

It is a written overview of the workplace’s health and safety issues. This does not refer to the legal requirements – these must, of course, be in order. The APV includes all the aspects that employees and employers consider important for a good working environment. Issues that require action should be included in an action plan that states who is responsible and when the action should be carried out.

How do I create an APV?

There is freedom of method when preparing the APV, but the most important thing is to involve the employees and put it in writing. This can be done through meetings, interviews, or questionnaires!

Is there any support material available?

Yes – The Danish Working Environment Authority (Arbejdstilsynet) has produced industry-specific guidelines. The Danish sectoral working environment councils and business organizations have also created guidelines, which we have gathered on one page here.

What if I have questions?

As a member of GE (Greenland Business Association), you are always welcome to write or call the secretariat if you have a question. GE has been conducting introductory courses on APV.
